Dry needling

Dry needling is also known as trigger point acupuncture, since needles are used to set impulses at specific points in the muscles. Beyond that, however, it has nothing to do with traditional Chinese medicine, but is based on Western, conventional medical knowledge.

The needles are placed in a hardened part of the muscles – at the so-called trigger points – to treat a myofascial pain (myo = muscle, fascial = fascial) locally. The puncture triggers a reaction in the muscle tissue, spasms are relieved, blood circulation is improved and the inflammatory reaction is reduced. Subsequent movement exercises free the tissue and eliminate the movement disorder. The result is fast and lasting pain relief.

Dry needling has proven to be extremely effective, especially for deep-seated muscles that are difficult or impossible to reach with other treatment techniques. Professional riders also appreciate this doping-free variant of muscle treatment for their hard-working horses.

In Germany there are only a few qualified horse therapists who use dry needling. This complex treatment method for muscular disorders in horses was developed by Andrea Schachinger developed, which trained me personally and whose procedures I use.
